From The Danger List:
This is a dark moment in American history. But in the
face of national decay great art and new aesthetic
movements are born.
Welcome to the New American Art Boom.
Below are two open calls for artists of all mediums. The
first "This Urgent Moment" is a formal call with a major
career-launching prize. The second contest, "Art Ate New
York", is specific to New York City guerrilla artists.
TheDanger is helping to produce and judge these
competitions along with a half dozen other organizations
in a collaborative project simply titled: Artists Wanted.
Feel free to forward/post this message.
The First Competition : This Urgent Moment
An Open Call for New Art & Design
Our time is marked by major advances (and regressions) in
art, technology, politics, science and culture. Historically, such
urgent moments have resulted in art and design that bring
permanent evolutions to our aesthetic language.
We are looking for art of any medium that has the bite and
blood to match the energy of our era.
You have until Friday, September 21st to submit your work
through the Artists Wanted website. The best submissions
will be exposed to an international audience of curators,
collectors and art aficionados through the year-end
publication: The Annual.
One artist will win the ultimate prize: a solo-show in New
York City (in the heart of Chelsea), a $2,007 grant, an
art-star reception, a massive publicity blitz, a
full-spread feature in The Annual and unlimited membership
to the 3rd Ward artist workspace.
This is your moment to be discovered.
