Challenge: Raingutter Regatta

We're giving boats another shot. This time hopefully it won't be so sticky. Build raingutter boats with us and see who crafts the best performing vessel!

Lab: Casting and Molding

We'll be covering various casting and molding, materials and techniques in this very awesome Make:NYC. We'll be focusing on small object replication for rapid prototyping.

Participants will be making their own rubber molds and casting resin parts with provided materials.

Lab Materials: $20/person

Please arrive BEFORE 7PM if you intend to participate in the lab.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm sick of this cold weather hampering my structure-building! Support us and give us your truss! Show up for Meeting 17!

Challenge: Balsa Bridge Construction

It's the classic physics-challenge you all know and love. Teams will construct balsa spans built to support the greatest possible weight. Teams will be supplied with balsa, glue and cutting utensils. We recommend everyone do their homework for this meeting. Spend some time researching good design techniques.

We're bringing back a favorite challenge for all you makers! We're excited to see how new faces and new ideas can take this challenge to the next level

Challenge: Return of the Blimps

You've got brains, we've got blimps! Three teams will compete to make ordinary RC blimps perform extraordinarily. We'll provide the blimps, helium and some standard Make:NYC challenge materials. Arrive on time to make sure you get in on all the lighter-than-air action cause it's gonna be a blast!

Rhode Island will be hosting the second ever New England Maker Faire ( The first was during Internet Week, and was very small.  But also awesome good fun. )

Looks like the event will span a week, with different sets of events and workshops.  Should be a great time.  The dates are start with a kick off party on Sept 6th and culminating at Waterfire on Sept 19th.  Check out makerfaireri.com for more details.  They are also looking for submissions from Makers currently, so head on over and contribute something cool!
